A week before the premiere during the busiest rehearsal period, a strange investigator (Henrik Kalmet) pays a visit to the theatre director (Priit Võigemast) to talk about a peculiar case called „The Theatre File“. A tense and absurd interrogation begins where it quickly becomes unclear what is being investigated and who is accusing whom and of what. What is real and what is imaginary?

It is a seemingly simple story about the relationship and contradictions between power and the mind where you can cover new layers when you look closely.

It is also a slightly Kafkaesque look at the bureaucratic machine and how it comically collides with the bohemian and magical world of theatre. Are these worlds and the two people who meet so unexpectedly really as different as they seem? And to add tension, mind-altering substances are added to the mix.

„Audience“, or to be more precise „Vaclav Havel’s Audience“, is a new play by the contemporary Kosovo playwright Jeton Neziraj which has been heavily inspired by Vaclav Havel’s play „Audience“ from 1975.
